{BLOG TOUR} Release by M.R. Merrick *REVIEW*

I am super lucky and excited to be a part of this tour! I mean
Matt is amazing and his books are even better (sorry Matt)!!
Read the review and get a glimpse into just how amazing I
think he is! (p.s. if you haven't read his books DO IT!)

After uniting the shifters and calling in reinforcements, Chase has to face his toughest challenge yet: learning to control his emotions. But as tensions rise and his powers grow, controlling his emotions becomes the least of his problems.
Terrorized by a multi-shifter who is hell-bent on turning him, Chase questions just how far he’s willing to go to stop his father. Meanwhile, Tiki’s virtuous nature has placed him in the middle of Vincent’s past, leaving Chase to oppose a senate of vampires and defend a demon he hates.
Trying to balance his friends, his enemies, and his inner demons, Chase is left searching for answers about the Mark, his destiny, and where he can find the next soul piece. Stopping Riley is his top priority, but as more obstacles arise, he finds himself doubting all the decisions he’s made - especially regarding Rayna.
One thing is for certain: Chase has finally realized that he doesn’t know anything. The light doesn’t always quell the darkness, the monsters don’t always stay in the shadows, and the past doesn’t always stay in the past - sometimes, the demons inside are the hardest to fight.

Just freaking wow!  Then there was an OMG if this it?  Matt has been blowing my mind since I picked up Exiled and read it.   The tension carried into Shift and now picking up Release I am freaking blow away.  I think this is both my favourite installment and the one I am most frustrated with.  There was so much packed into this book I just don't know where to start and where to end with all of the awesome and the occasional book throwing moment.  However seeing this is sadly only on my kindle and not in my hands it never got thrown.  Well that and I would feel horrible for throwing a book EVER.

Chase has more than ever to worry about.  With Riley already in possession of the first soul piece the dagger, things are more desperate.  Things are also awkward between him and Rayna.  Oh and then there is the power struggle.  Not the exterior one either but I want you to read on so I won't ruin it.  Basically everyone you've met and then some is in this one.  They are really revving up for the battle. Well to fight Riley and the Dark Brothers at the very least.  They have to venture to a very dangerous world to the and locate he souls pieces that they feel can stop Riley, that's as long as they can get there and get them before him.  Oh and did I mention destroy the piece as well?   Then there is figuring out what being the Protector really means, even if it is helping your enemies.

The main man Chase is such a vivid and ever growing character.  There is not one book in this series that he does no grow or change.  I mean he started off as the guy that got kicked out because his powers never manifested and now he is practically bursting with power.  Literally.  Then there's the little detail that he still cares for Rayna yet seems to be holding back.  Oh and her power pulls at his...  Ya that's just a minor detail.  No worries about that.  I would love to say that Chase is just your typical guy but there is absolutely nothing typical or ordinary about him or the things he does.  I constantly find myself loving him for his actions.  Though they are not always made in the right set of mind he is getting there.  The growth thing remember?

Rayna, Tiki and Willy are also ever present.  These are characters that are seriously not to be overlooked and underestimated.  Each and every one carries an importance.  I'd like to think that Rayna more than the others because she is seriously kick ass but I'm not sure.  Rayna is however like Chase continuing to learn more about herself.  This more is also AMAZING!!!  I wont share exactly what it is but when they figure it out, I did a double take and then smiled like a fool.  I mean it all made sense in that moment.  My love for Willy also continued to grow.  He doesn't seem himself anymore but really the guy has been through a lot.   Despite this he stands by his friends and continues to go through hell.

Let me not forget to mention the romance.  Though it has never been a main focus it is present and damn near perfect!  Don't like insta love?  This romance is all the way for you.  Chase and Rayna have had this pull toward each other since the first book, though it isn't very explored.  There is always something that seems to keep them from just getting together and making it happen.  Even though I will say there has been some close calls.  The two of them argue and have tension so thick that sometimes you may actually be able to cut it.  When it comes down to it though they do care about one another and I have high hopes for future books.

Mr. Merrick is a literary genius.  I have been addicted to his work since I first picked up Exiled.  This doesn't look like it will change anytime soon either.  The cliff hanger ending in this one just about killed me.  Actually the entire ending just about killed me.  These are the type of books I can recommend to just about everyone and anyone.  I can not imagine someone not liking this series.  I don't know about anyone else but I am so ready for the next book and hopefully Chase finally kicking some dark brother behind!!

**NOTE TO MATT: Need #4 NOW!**

Quotes
"That's because you've never been trained," Grams's raspy voice said.  "But that's about to change.  You got that little kitty of yours in check?""Excuse me?" Rayna arched a brow."The kitty.  You know, that little fuzzy beast inside your-"

"Yeah we-well, that creature is still new to me.  I don't feel very powerful right now." "Just relax." I patted Willy on the back. "Sa- says the guy with so much po-power he can hardly contain it."

I released the breath I was holding and gripped the sheets on my bed.  Not only did that really just happen, but it also came with horrible news.  This night was just getting better and better.

"Mr. Williams, I understand that you are a bit slower than the rest, so for this, you are forgiven.  However, if I must repeat myself and explain that these details are not important one more time, you may see a different side of me."

  1. I HAVE to read this series, like now. Right now. It has been absolutely raved about by so many people that I trust explicitly. So, I have to hurry up with this one. And soon.
